Hermit Crabs
Our hermit crabs - Jeremy, Prudence and Pam - are currently at my home. After we have established a positive classroom community, they will come to school! To help get ready for our hermit crabs, here is a helpful list of hermit crab facts:
1. Hermit crabs need a warm, humid environment to live in.
2. They need at least 8 inches of moist sand in their crabitat.
3. They LOVE when you watch them...but you must be SLOW with your movements.
4. Hermit crabs are very frightened by loud noises.
5. They like being read to.
6. Pictures, cards or letters are always shown to Jeremy, Prudence and Pam. They love fan mail!
7. Hermit crabs molt about twice a year. When they do this they bury themselves in the sand for about one to one and a half months.
